Hello Bill,

David Seller from Can-West Yachts here. Purchased one of your earliest units in 1998 and it is still going strong. My wife and I are continuing our circumnavigation with Thailand expected by next Oct/04.

Am home in Canada for the month of June and considering purchasing a spare membrane for our system. Our system has the two feed pumps (380?) The membrane is white with black cap ends. Dimensions approx 3" x 44".

Please advise price and availability of a suitable replacement membrane. Would most probably have you ship it to my home here in Langley, BC. Postal code V3A2M5.

Now into our 6th year of watermaking, we are still delighted with the performance of our Spectra system. Thanks again for an excellent product.

You might advise, how long a new membrane can be stored without putting into service.

Subject: Making water again thanks to great service

I wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate the great service which you have provided me to enable my water maker to function properly. What makes the service even more amazing is that I was able to get my unit working despite not even having the needed parts available due to shipping delays which was no fault of yours.

Thanks to your contacting Captain Don Wilson, he was able to meet me where the parts were supposed to arrive. Because he was well equipped, trained, and extremely helpful, he used parts aboard "Tackless II" and had my problems fixed long before the parts arrived.

This prompt and thoughtful service will no doubt help reduce any problems to the membrane which might have been damaged by a lengthy delay in Customs/holiday delivery problems. It was very valuable to have Don available to help as I am sure I would have had considerable difficulties and frustration getting the air locks removed. I certainly lacked his confidence and training. The repair was not entirely straightforward, but he got the problems resolved in a very timely manner and provided a tremendous amount of training for me.

While no complex product is trouble free, and most marine hardware is manufactured in too low a production volume to ensure cost and quality efficiency, your service is head and shoulders above the competition in the marine industry. Your high service standard is certainly well recognized in the blue water cruising community, and I am pleased to continue to spread the good news.

Bill, it was good to talk w/you at last week's boat show and be able to personally express our complete satisfaction w/our Spectra 150 watermaker. We used it constantly during our six month cruise in Mexico last year and it performed flawlessly. Given my "water nazi" tendencies during our first Mexico cruise, my wife said that the Spectra-- and Hotwire’s solar panel module that provided us w/plenty of juice--were the two upgrades that contributed the most to a pleasurable cruise this time. She wants to do it again! What better testimony to the impact of an ample supply of clean, wonderful water?

Dear Bill,

We purchased our Spectra watermaker from you early in 1998. It is an 8 gallon/hour modular unit shoehorned into our 38ft sailboat 'Bagheera'. Since then we have cruised nearly 30,000 nautical miles and the Spectra has performed spectacularly. We get unlimited water as its low power demand allows us to run it from solar panels, it has been trouble-free and its quiet operation means that often we forget that it is running!

What a wonderful difference from our early days of cruising. Safe drinking water, regular showers, laundry, and no need to conserve on an ocean crossing; we wouldn't want to cruise without it. Many thanks.
